Splore is only a couple of weeks away now and it looks set to be the
late highlight in the circuit of summer festivals that we've been
treated to lately.
The festival, which takes place at Tapapakanga Regional Park which is 70km south east of Auckland, will see Lupe Fiasco and Basement Jaxx take the headline slots over the three-day weekend.
Both Fiasco and Basement Jaxx have been busy as of late recording
new material. Basement Jaxx have just released their excellent new
album 'Scars' as well as a low-key affair entitled 'Zephyr.' Meanwhile, Fiasco is gearing up to release his highly anticipated third album 'Lazers,' the follow-up to his excellent sophomore album 'The Cool.'
Fiasco also released a mixtape 'Enemy of the State' recently which saw him emcee over tracks by Jay-Z, Timbaland and Drake, and Radiohead.
We've also been told that "Over the lifespan of Splore, husbands and
wives have been found, lovers have proposed to their darlings, babies
have been conceived and there's been lots of loving on the festival
menu." This year will also see the festival set up a wedding chapel for
those that want to put a ring on it over the weekend.
So there you have it - it looks like it will be a fun weekend with plenty of surprises too!
